This chapter lists new features added to Clip Studio Paint Ver. 3.0.
Updates in Version 3.0
This manual has been updated based on the updates in Version 3.0 as of March 2024.
·Simple Mode has been added to iPad/Android/Chromebook.See "Simple Mode interface" and "Using Simple Mode" for details.
·"Pencil drawing", "Noise", "Retro film", "Normal map", and "Chromatic aberration" have been added to the Filter menu > Effect.
·"Color Match" has been added to the Edit menu > Tonal Correction.You can adjust the color of the selected layer by referring to other images or gradients.
·You can now set parent-child hierarchies between multiple 3D materials.See "Linking 3D models in a hierarchy" for details.You can attach 3D materials to specific parts of a 3D drawing figure or a 3D character material.See "Attaching materials to a 3D drawing figure".
·"Layer comps" have been added.Layer Comps allow you to record the visibility status of layers in the canvas.You can easily switch the display status of multiple layers.
·You can now add a watermark in the "Export (Single Layer)" and "Export settings" dialog that appears when exporting a timelapse.
·An Image list has been added to the "Functions of Sub View Palette". You can view and select a list of images registered in the Sub View palette.
·You can now register "Export presets" dialog when exporting images in the "Export settings" dialog.
·In the File menu, you can now register presets for exporting image sequences and animation cels.See ."Export presets".
·Work time is now displayed in the "Information Palette".
·You can now open and close layer folders using modifier keys.See "Opening and closing layer folders" for details.
·You can now select Layer menu > New layer > Gradient to create a gradient layer and open the Edit gradient dialog when using "Creating a gradient layer".
·You can now save files in WebP format.See "Save file" and "Exporting files".
·You can now import WebP files as files, file objects, image files, light table layers, thumbnails, textures for 3D primitives, panorama materials, pose scanner references, and tool and command bar icons.You can register WebP files to the image bank.
·You can now batch export files in WebP format.You can also export files in Animated WebP format, and export image sequences and animation cels in WebP format.
·The "Circular text" category has been added to the Sub Tool Detail palette for the Text tool and text layers.See "Aligning text on a circle" for details.
·"Audio scrub" has been added.Select Animation menu > Audio scrubbing to play the audio while editing your animation.
·When using a 3D drawing figure, you can now adjust the arms, legs, torso, and waist in more detail than before.See "Adjusting the shape of a specific body part". For example, in the case of Arms, you can select the entire arms, upper arm, or forearms.
·When you select the parts below the elbows and knees of the 3D drawing figure or 3D character material, an additional red manipulator is displayed, allowing you to move only the position of the elbows and knees.See "Rotating body parts with local manipulators" for details.
·The settings to lock joints are now reflected when using the pose controller.See "Locking and releasing joints".
·You can now apply POSEMANIACS poses to 3D drawing figures and 3D character materials.For details, see "Using POSEMANIACS poses".
·Mirror pose and Straighten pose have been added to the Sub Tool Detail palette > "Pose" category.For details, see "Adjusting the body pose".
·Fog type has been added to "Fog". You can adjust the strength of the fog with Opacity.
·When using "Mesh transformation", you can now select multiple grid points and transform.For details, see "Moving multiple grid points". For details on how to select multiple grid points, see "Mesh".
·You can now search for and run functions by their names in the "Quick Access Palette". See "Searching the Quick Access palette" for details.You can also add searched functions to the Quick Access palette.
·Added Save as default to the Grid/Ruler Bar Settings dialog, so you can register frequently used settings as default.See "Using the ruler bar and grid" for details.
·The color sets in "Color Set palette" have been changed.
·Grips have been added to the "Edit color sets" dialog.You can change the order of color sets by dragging the grip.
· Mixing mode and Brightness correction have been added to the "Gradient dialog". You can also use the same settings for gradient maps.
·You can now search for font names when using the Text tool or when using the Object sub tool to select a text layer.See "Search fonts" for details.You can also search for fonts in the "Font list".
·A handle for changing the size of the field of view on a fisheye perspective ruler has been added.For details, see "Changing the size of the lens circle".
·The Export Webtoon command has been moved to the File menu > Special Export.
·If you have set the page reordering method to Ctrl + Drag, you can now duplicate a page by dragging it while pressing the Ctrl and Alt keys.See "Moving pages".
·You can now import GLB, glTF, and VRM 3D files.See "Compatible file formats". When a FBX, GLB, or glTF file is imported, you can import normal maps.A VRM format file can be imported as a 3D character.
·You can now register 3D object materials.See "3D object materials" for details.
·Shape has been added to the "Object" category in the Sub Tool Detail palette.You can edit the shape keys set to a 3D object.
·Projection Method has been added to the "Camera" category in the Sub Tool Detail palette.You can select the projection method for the camera of the 3D layer from Perspective and Parallel.
·Adapt view to object has been added to the "Camera" category in the Sub Tool Detail palette.You can change the position of the camera's focal point to match the selected 3D material on the canvas.
·The Wrap at Frame and Position in frame options in the Text category of the Sub Tool Detail palette have been moved to the "Line space/alignment" category.Justify has been added to the Line Spacing/Alignment category.
·Layer Comps has been added to the "Reference" category in the Sub Tool Detail palette when a file object layer or light table layer is selected.You can select the layer comp of the file you are referencing.The Layer Comps option is only available in EX.
·In the Sub Tool Detail palette > "Object List" category, you can now change the name of the parts.In addition, commands have been added to open or close all folders at once.
·A "Hand pose" category has been added to the Sub Tool Detail palette.The settings related to hand poses have been moved from the previous Pose category to here.
·The Kerning and OpenType features have been added to the "Font" category of the Sub Tool Detail palette.
·In the Sub Tool Detail palette, Position has been added to the "Transformation settings" category, allowing you to move the transformation position.
·A "Mouse/Gestures" category has been added to the Sub Tool Detail palette.You can configure the operation of the mouse and touch gestures when selecting a 3D layer.The Operation category's Adjust camera with touch gestures and Enabled gestures have been moved to the Mouse/Gestures category.
·Anti-aliasing has been added to the Sub Tool Detail palette for "Liquify". You can turn anti-aliasing on or off when using the Liquify tool.
·The option to show/hide all palettes has been added to the "Command Bar".
·"Touch (tablet)" has been added to Preferences. You can adjust the position of the pen or finger if they are misaligned.
·The Disable palette operation with finger or mouse option has been added to Preferences > "Touch gestures". You can prevent accidentally interacting with a palette by touching it with your finger or mouse while drawing on the canvas.
·Warn about memory usage has been added to Preferences > "Performance". A message will appear when the memory usage increases.This setting is only available on iPad/Android/Chromebook.
·How to paste to cels has been added to Preferences > "Animation" You can set the behavior when pasting the content from the clipboard to an animation folder.
·Add cel to frame when adding layer has been added to Preferences > "Animation" When turned on, it will apply in the following cases: "Turning a layer into a cel", "Importing a file as a cel", "Pasting a layer as a cel"
·Remove cel when deleting/moving layer has been added to Preferences > "Animation". You can use it for the following case:"Deleting a assigned cel from the Layer palette"
·Automatically extend clip length has been added to Preferences > "Animation". When you change the position of the start frame or end frame on the Timeline palette, the length of the clip will adjust accordingly.
·Save at regular intervals, Save interval, and Save method have been added to Preferences > "File". These settings are only available on iPad/Android/Chromebook.
·A grip has been added to the Edit set dialog box.You can change the order of color sets by dragging the grip.See "Changing the order of auto actions and commands" for details.
·Preferences > Light table category has been renamed to "Animation".
·The Preferences > Tool category has been divided into "Tool" and "Drawing tool".
·The settings for Ambient light, Parallel light 1, and Parallel light 2 have been moved to the Light Source category.You can no longer edit the settings in the Preferences category.To learn about these settings, see "Applying a light source to a 3D material".
·Color Theme in Preferences > "Interface" has been renamed from Dark Color and Light Color to Dark Mode and Light Mode. The functions are the same.
·The name of the center point when using the Edit menu > Transform has been changed to Reference point in the Tool Property palette.
·The Object list has been deleted from the "Transform" category in the Sub Tool Detail palette.
·Added settings for "Clip Studio Tabmate 2".
