Managing files (Android)

On Android devices, you can open and save files created in Clip Studio Paint from the "File Picker dialog".


Important

Files created in the Android app Ver. 3.1.5 or earlier were saved in a different location to Ver. 3.2 and later. You can open them from the "File operation/Share dialog".

File Picker dialog

In the File Picker dialog in the Android version, you can open files in Clip Studio Paint and save files you have created in Clip Studio Paint.

The default save location for files saved in Clip Studio Paint Ver. 3.2 and later is the Documents > Clip Studio folder.

(1)Select from storage / Open from storage

You can open your file management app to select a folder as a save destination, or select files to open.

(2)Recent items

Tap to see recently saved files. You can open or import these files.

(3)Clip Studio

See files in the Documents > Clip Studio folder.

(4)Add a directory

Tap to open your file management app and add a folder from your storage to the list. In the dialog that appears, select the directory you want to add and tap Use this folder. The chosen folder will be shown in the list. You can use this to view the folder next time you use the File Picker dialog.


Memo

·When you add a new file directory, a message will appear asking you to grant access permissions to Clip Studio. Tap “Allow” to continue.

·If you have updated from Clip Studio Paint Ver. 3.1.5 or earlier, Previous save location will appear above Add a directory. Tap this to view files saved in Ver. 3.1.5 or earlier.

(5)Add

This is the same as the Add a directory button.

(6)Delete

This removes the current file directory from the dialog. It does not delete the actual folder. You cannot remove Recent items or Clip Studio.

(7)Directory

This shows the file path of the folder that is currently open in the dialog. Tap a folder name to view that folder.

(8)Thumbnail view

Use the buttons to switch between list view or thumbnail view.

(9)Sort by category

Choose the order to sort your files in ascending or descending order. You can sort by name, file type, file size, or last modified.

(10)File list

This shows a list of the files and folders within the selected folder. You can tap a folder to open it, and save or open files shown in the list. You can also select multiple files when importing or opening files.

(11)Select all

Tap to rename the selected file or folder.

(12)Open / Save

The button text will depend on your current action. Tap to open the selected file, or save the current file in the specified location.

File operation/Share dialog

Files saved in Clip Studio Paint Ver. 3.1.5 or earlier are saved to a specific folder and can be accessed from the File Operation/Share dialog.

In this dialog, you can manage and export files saved here.

(1)File filter

You can filter to only show certain file types. Tap to open a list of file types to choose from.

(2)Sort by category

Choose the order to display your files. You can sort by name, file type, file size, or last modified.

(3)Sort by ascending/descending

Use the arrow to sort your files in ascending or descending order.

(4)Thumbnail view

Use the buttons to switch between thumbnail view or list view.

(5)Thumbnail size

Use the slider to adjust the thumbnail size.

(6)Menu

Opens a menu with commands for the selected files or folders. The actions are the same as the side bar buttons.

(7)Open

Open the selected file in Clip Studio Paint. If using Studio Mode on tablet, you can open multiple files at once.

(8)Share

Share the selected file or folder to another app, such as a cloud service or social media.

(9)Delete

Delete the selected file or folder.

(10)Export

Export a copy of a file in the file list to your device storage. If you export multiple files at once, they will be exported in zip format. The following folders will be compressed into zip format.

·Management folders for multi-page projects

·Folders exported from the File menu > Export Animation > Image sequence

·Folders exported from the File menu > Export multiple pages > Batch export or Export fanzine printing data

To open the files in another program or device, please unzip the exported files first.

(11)File list

This is a list of files and folders in the Clip Studio Paint work folder. You can select items using the checkboxes.

Folders will appear in the list as the following.

·The thumbnail for multi-page projects will be the management file for the cover page

·Images exported as Batch export or Image sequence will be stored in a folder, and the icon will show multiple images stacked upon each other. You cannot open images within the folder in the File operation/Share dialog.
