How to use tools
To use a tool in Clip Studio Paint, first select the tool group in the Tool palette. A list of tools will appear in the Tool Group palette. Select the tool that you want to use.
Adjusting tool settings
You can adjust the settings for the selected tool in the Tool Settings palette. The settings will be saved for the next time you use the tool.
The Tool Settings palette shows the most commonly used settings for each tool. To see all available settings, tap the wrench icon at the bottom of the Tool Settings palette to open the Advanced Tool Settings palette.
To save the adjusted settings as a new default, tap the Save all settings as default button in the Advanced Tool Settings palette.
You can also lock settings using the padlock icon in the Tool Settings palette to the right of the stroke preview, or from the Tool Settings palette menu > Lock. A padlock icon will appear next to the tool name in the Tool Group palette.
When tool settings are locked, the settings can still be changed. The next time the tool is selected, the settings will be restored to as they were when the tool was locked. To unlock a tool, simply toggle the padlock icon or menu command.

Adjusting multiple tool settings
The following menu commands can be applied to multiple tools at once.
·Lock: Locks the tool settings for all selected tools
·Reset to default: Resets all selected tools to the default settings
·Save as default: Saves the current settings for the selected tools as default settings
The same commands in the Tool Settings palette and Advanced Tool Settings palette only apply to one tool at a time.
Pop-up related palettes
You can make relevant palettes pop up when you tap a tool button or color icon on the Tool palette using the Tool palette menu > Pop-up related palettes for each tool.
Tapping a tool button displays the Tool Group palette and Tool Settings palette for that tool, allowing you to select tools and adjust settings. If the palettes do not appear when tapped, tap the same tool again to bring up the related palettes.
Tapping a color icon pops up the Color Wheel palette and Color Set palette, allowing you to select colors.
To close the pop-up palettes, tap anywhere outside the palettes.
Memo | You can drag popped up palettes and resize them by placing the cursor over the edge of the palette and dragging it. You can also adjust the dividing position between two palettes by dragging the separator in the middle. |
